OUR MISSION

REDIRECTIONS: Rediscovering Black culture through African American history to foster unity that will endure for generations. REDIRECTIONS (Changing Concepts) serves as a vital independent organization, bridging the gap in education and engagement. Through its workshops and programs, it provides meaningful support to uplift the community while enriching the lives of young people. By offering a deeper understanding of African American history, Redirections empowers youth to recognize their inherent greatness and cultivate their inner strength. When young people know their history, they understand that they come from a legacy of excellence—transforming their communities, redefining expectations, and breaking free from the stigmas that have long held them back.

Kimberly Mack – Founder

Born and raised in Oakland, California, I understand firsthand the challenges of growing up in poverty-stricken communities.

With 15 years of experience as a foster parent, I have dedicated my life to working with youth, specifically young African American males, by providing a structured and supportive environment. My deep passion for guiding and uplifting young people led me to establish Redirections, an organization designed to serve as a positive outlet for children while helping reshape their mindset, emotions, and behaviors.

Through education on African American history and culture, I strive to empower youth with knowledge of both historical and current events. Committed to this mission, I returned to school and earned an Associate Degree in African American Studies from Merritt College.
